A new gutter installation starts with measuring your roofline — every run, corner, and slope — to figure out how many linear feet of gutter you need and where the water naturally wants to go. Our gutter installers cut or form the material to length on site, hang it with brackets spaced to hold up under a full trough of water, and pitch it slightly toward each downspout so water never sits still. The last step is tying in downspouts that carry runoff at least a few feet away from your foundation.
If your current system is mostly sound but has isolated problems — a sagging section, a leaking seam — gutter repair is usually the faster, cheaper fix. If it's old, rusted through, or pulling away from the fascia in multiple places, that's gutter replacement territory.
Most Allen installs use seamless aluminum — formed on site in a single run to eliminate the seams that cause the most leaks. See our seamless gutters page for how that process works. K-style profiles are the standard choice for most homes; half-round is available for a more traditional look on older or architecturally distinct properties.
A gutter system is only as good as its downspouts. Placement is based on roof area per run, not just "one per corner" — a long, high-pitched roof section may need two. See our downspout installation page for how sizing and placement decisions get made.
Linear footage is the biggest factor, followed by material, roof height and pitch (steeper or taller roofs take longer to work safely), number of corners and downspouts, and whether old gutters need to be removed first. A written estimate breaks each of these out so you know exactly what you're paying for.
North Texas storm activity tends to pick up heading into spring, which makes late winter a practical time to address gutters before they're tested by heavy rain. Watch for granules or debris buildup from an aging roof collecting in the trough, hangers that already show rust or looseness, and any section that visibly sags even when empty. Addressing these before the first major spring storm is generally easier than dealing with an overflow problem mid-storm.
